“The Madrigal Project is a realization of a dream that took a lifetime to achieve, brought to life by a community of amazing musicians and artists, here at the 11th Hour…” – Kevin Dodson
The brainchild of Kevin Dodson, a former architect of the cult progressive rock band Madrigal, The Madrigal Project seeks to breathe new life into the progressive rock genre with ambitious songwriting, high production values and a stellar lineup of all-star musicians. The debut album ’11th Hour’ features an impressive roster of guest musicians, each bringing their unique individual talents to the project:
Adam Holzman (Miles Davis, Steven Wilson) on keyboards
Oliver Wakeman (Yes, The Strawbs) on keyboards
Billy Sherwood (Yes, Asia, Circa) on bass
Michael Lewis (Jon Anderson, Jean-Luc Ponty) on guitar
Jane Getter (Jane Getter Premonition) on guitar
Kevin Dodson brings the same creative energy and spirit that defined Madrigal’s albums, ‘Waiting’ (1988) and ‘On My Hands’ (1996). Both of these albums remain cult favourites among crossover prog enthusiasts and The Madrigal Project builds on this foundation, infusing it with contemporary influences and fresh collaborations.
’11th Hour’ was meticulously recorded at Dodsongs Productions and Soundlogic Audio, engineered and mixed by Kevin Dodson and John Van Houdt, with mastering by Andy Van Dette at Evolve Mastering, NYC. The album’s striking artwork was created by Hajo Mueller, renowned for his iconic illustration and design work with Steven Wilson.
The music on ‘11th Hour’ is inspired by legends like Gentle Giant, Peter Hammill, Jethro Tull, Yes, Genesis, Peter Gabriel and combines progressive rock’s classic elements with modern sensibilities. Kevin Dodson’s songwriting, drumming, and vocals are central to the album’s dynamic and unique sound.
